Facilities
Children aged 3 and above can look forward to a guarantee of personal attention from teachers at the Gollop Preparatory and Pre-Preparatory School. Class sizes are capped at a maximum  of 18 in the renovated 100-year-old primary school located within the safe and pleasant setting of Llandovery College. The children also have access to the first class facilities established in the Senior School and specialist teaching in key subjects. This includes use of the all weather Astro turf, fully equipped sports hall, playing fields with 9 hole golf course and a covered swimming pool where students swim weekly throughout the year.  Due to the demand for places a £200,000 extension has been added to the existing building.

The school is housed in a purpose-built school building containing a large assembly hall, five fully modernised classrooms, a protected play space, staff room, offices, storage areas, toilets, common room and a large reception area.  There is no direct access from the main roads and the school has its own CCTV system.

There are five fully-qualified primary specialist teachers, one Head of School and two assistants. All are based in and work full time at the Prep School during the day, with two staff members also working in a Pastoral role as Housemistress and Assistant Housemaster at the Senior School. Teachers are supported by two full-time classroom assistants. There is also a full-time qualified nurse employed to deal with any medical issues or emergencies. The College also has its own Medical Centre on the campus.

All pupils are valuably occupied in voluntary after-school activities until the school buses depart at 5.30pm. Activities include: Speech and Drama, Sports, Information Technology, Chess, Art and Design, French and Fencing Clubs.

The Preparatory School hall is equipped for music, drama and physical education. Each class is equipped for teaching all National Curriculum subjects and has ICT facilities and internet access.  In addition pupils have access to the extensive facilities of the Senior School, including the College Dining Hall where pupils eat their lunch at a separate time from senior students.

The Prep-School had its first interactive whiteboard installed this term, thanks to the Parents Association.  It has been fitted in Year 5, however all age groups are benefiting Pre-Prep and Year 3 and 4 have experienced the immediacy of the technology through learning about China and the Chinese New Year, and seen the glorious colour of moving images.
Research shows that interactive whiteboards have a positive impact on Primary School pupils.

For us, this will mean that pupils no longer merely watch the teacher writing on the board, but will work together at reaching an answer and deciding what to do next.  Questions will be able to be looked up immediately by the whole class and answered.
