Excellent transport links to major cities and airports make living in an area of outstanding natural beauty an attractive option.
We first opened our doors on St David’s Day, 1848 to a small group of boys keen to learn and be schooled in the current thoughts and politics of the day. Although much has changed since these early days, essentially the ethos and culture our founder Thomas Phillips endeavoured to create remains today at the heart of a happy and thriving school.
We are a close-knit community and pride ourselves on providing a caring and open environment in which our students excel. Girls arrived at College in 1968 and are now fully integrated into life at Llandovery. Academic achievement is balanced with personal growth and small class numbers ensure each student's own potential is fulfilled. With an outstanding campus that incorporates a new state of the art teaching centre alongside original buildings, many cherished traditions are retained but not at the expense of progress. It is our intention to ensure every child reaches their full personal potential and our teachers are singularly dedicated to achieving this aim. We place a great deal of importance on respect for self and community and are proud of the warm friendly atmosphere within the College.
This website is intended to give an over-view of what Llandovery can offer. It cannot however replace a personal visit so if you like what you see and think Llandovery could suit your child please contact us to arrange a visit or request a prospectus.
