| New state-of-the-art teaching centre for Llandovery College
Llandovery College has now opened its doors to a £1 million investment that will help create one of the most advanced teaching environments in the country.
A key feature of the new centre is that it is fitted with wireless technology – allowing the school children and staff access to the Internet and their own work on any lap top anywhere in the building.
Humanities, modern languages, religious studies and mathematics are taught in the new centre, freeing up classrooms in older parts of the school which have been earmarked for renovation and new roles. |
|
| The new building is also the home for a series of special bilingual panels containing information on the history of the college - and students will be able to keep abreast of school news as the latest information is flashed on to flat television screens (LCDs - Liquid Crystal Displays) strategically located within the centre. |
Chemistry department
To further improve the standard of education at the College the chemistry teaching room in the Science Block was fitted out with new furniture and equipment over the summer holiday. It is hoped that over the next few years similar upgrades will take place in both Biology and Physics departments.
Pavilion refurbishment
The ‘Christopher Bell Pavilion’ was officially opened on Saturday 14th October 2006 by Mr David Morgan, Chairman of the England and Wales Cricket Board. Over 100 Old Llandoverians and guests attended the Opening Ceremony. The entertainment room inside the Pavilion is to be named after Carwyn James, former Welsh Master and Rugby Coach at the College. The Pavilion has the facility to change 4 teams at any one time and is the latest in a series of developments at the College.
