Performance of TISSUE by Year 12 Students
Our Year 12 drama students will be performing Louise Page's moving drama, Tissue at Theatr Brycheiniog in Brecon on 25th June at 7.30pm. This remarkable play looks at the effect of a breast cancer diagnosis on a woman and her family. As well as the play, an auction and buffet will be taking place and all profits will go towards breast cancer charities. Parents, older children and other adults are very much welcome to join us in this important fundraising event. Tickets are available from the Box Office at Theatr Brycheiniog on

Fashion Show in aid of South Glamorgan Special Care Baby Association
We are delighted to announce that Llandovery College's Young Enterprise Group raised c.£1500 through an evening of style and song, organised entirely by pupils from Year 10. The students organised everything from the venue to choosing the charity and secured match funding from HSBC.  The evening at St Peters Civic Hall in Carmarthent was well attended, and the fashion show itself was a great success. Many thanks to all who were involved and to those who were so generous with their support, attendance and help.

The Chistmas Shoebox Appeal

The Charity Committee organised gifts and resources for the Christmas Shoebox Appeal.  This is a very worthwhile cause which seeks to bring some joy to children and young people in parts of the world which are currently war - torn or impoverished.

The Kenya Connection

Mr & Mrs Glyn Evans went on holiday to Kenya early in November and were able to visit some of the initiatives in Watamu with which the College has become involved in recent years.

Sunday morning at the Baptist Church of the Fishers of Men was a lively and joyous occasion, with some fifty children of the Sunday School and the Ladies Choir playing  prominent parts in the Service. It was good to see that since our last visit, with the D of E group in July, a new concrete floor had been laid in the Church and that fifty new plastic chairs had been bought. A future possible goal of any fund-raising from College would be the provision of basic uniforms (shirts / shorts for the boys, blouses / skirts for the girls) for the primary-age children of the Sunday School.

A similarly positive visit was made to Mijomboni Primary School: the trees we planted in the grounds in July were well established, and in the recent District Examinations for entry to Secondary School (similar to the old British 11 plus) Mijomboni had been placed 3rd out of 22 schools in the District, with over 60% of its pupils qualifying. The Headmaster was delighted to receive our donation of £200 from the College Charity Fund, and was holding a special meeting with his Parents' Association on the best use of this money, which is probably worth at least ten times as much in local purchasing power. A particularly happy moment was when a group of girls from Standard Four asked to be remembered to Emily (Scott), and had their photograph taken for Mr. Evans to give to Emily as a souvenir.
