Mr Bayley came to Llandovery in September 2005, along with his wife and young daughter. They soon settled to life in one of the most picturesque of Welsh Valleys’ and made an immediate impact on life in Tŷ Cadog for the boys in their care. A keen cyclist, canoeist and walker, Mr Bayley often spends his weekends “off duty” tramping the Brecon countryside with students undertaking the Duke of Edinburgh programme. With a house nearby in Llanegwad, and his wife being Welsh born, it could be said their arrival at Llandovery was a homecoming. A home away from home is certainly what they have created since their arrival in Tŷ Cadog for the young lads in their care. |

The House
Tŷ Cadog houses up to 38 boys in Years 10 & 11. The younger boys enjoy small dormitory styled accommodation which ensures close friendships are forged, whilst some of the older boys progress to small rooms and some single rooms for those that feel they would rather more privacy. Prefects in Years 12 & 13 are housed in a private flat and enjoy special privileges including their own kitchen facilities. Prefects however do earn their keep and are invaluable in their support to the Housemaster by assisting him with small jobs of responsibility in the house. A common room with TV, kitchen facilities and table tennis table are enjoyed by all as are the regular social events which include evening football, DVD evenings and birthday parties – courtesy of Mrs Bayley by invitation to the Housemaster's Home.
Tŷ Cadog has recently embarked on a major refurbishment programme which will continue throughout the coming year. This should further help to develop a real home environment for the boys.
Events
Tŷ Cadog boys are kept busy with their studies, but also enjoy a variety of events and activities away from their books. With a number of keen sportsmen living in the house, rugby and football are always popular choices and boys can be found in the evenings enjoying such games on the flood-lit all weather turf. A full programme of weekend activities including paint-balling and trips to the movies ensure boarders also spend time offsite.
At the end of the Michaelmas term there is always fervent activity as the boys organise suits, and more importantly, partners to take to the Christmas Feast and disco.
