With fairly heavy rain and a cold wind, the enthusiasm from both teams was rather poor however as soon as the pass back was made by Centre Forward, Captain Sarah Jane Thomas from Llandovery, the game was definitely on. After getting off to a bumpy start the Llandovery side gained possession of the ball and pushed Dyfryn Taf into their own half and kept the pressure on. Many attempts were made at goal by Left Wing - Kara Freeman, Centre Half - Angharad Davies, Centre Forward - Sarah Jane Thomas (Captain) and Right Wing - Amy Harris Jones but despite the cold, Dyfryn Tafs goalie saved nearly every ball and the remaining shots were either stopped short by Dyfryn Tafs defence or travelled wide. Llandovery remained in Dyfryn Tafs half for the rest of the first half and although Dyfyn Tafs defence managed to send some balls past Llandoverys attackers and mids the ball was returned back fast by Llandoverys impenetrable defence made up by Sweeper – Sara Williams, Centre Back – Sophie Openshaw, Left Back – Myfanwy Llewelyn and Right Back – Katja Paine.

After a reassuring team talk and water break, Llandovery decided to make the most of the relenting weather and make their attack on Dyfryn Tafs defence more forceful. After quickly obtaining the ball, Llandovery drove straight into Dyfryn Tafs “D” and after 10 minutes Angharad Davies managed to dribble around three defenders and flick the ball into the top left corner of the goal. This sadly was the way the score was to stay for the remainder of the game and although Dyfyn Taf made some more breaks, none resulted in entering Llandoverys “D”. Llandovery kept the pressure high on the oppositions defence right up until the final whistle blew and after saluting Dyfryn Tafs good play made haste to get out of the cold weather and back to the warmth of the new pavilions changing rooms!
