Un o brif weledigaethau Adran Y Gymraeg Coleg Llanymddyfri ydy cynnal cymuned Gymreig a Chymraeg o fewn y Coleg ynghyd â hyrwyddo'r ethos Gymreig. Gwneir pob ymdrech i feithrin dealltwriaeth y disgyblion o ddiwylliant y Gymraeg a'i thraddodiadau nid yn unig yn y gwersi Cymraeg ond hefyd, ymysg pethau eraill, drwy'r Clwb Cymraeg wythnosol, Gweithgareddau'r Urdd, Ymweliadau Theatr/Ffilm/Gweithdai yn y Coleg, Eisteddfodau lleol a chenedlaethol a'r Capel Cymraeg. Yn wir, fe annogir myfyrwyr o bob oed i gymryd rhan ymhob agwedd o'r Gymraeg. Rydym hefyd am feithrin balchder pob unigolyn a chodi hyder o'r iaith Gymraeg er mwyn i'r disgyblion sylweddoli gwerth gwybodaeth o'r Gymraeg i'w bywydau. Mae'r Adran Gymraeg yn paratoi disgyblion i sefyll Arholiadau TGAU/AS/ Lefel A mewn Ail Iaith a Mamiaith. Rhoir cyfleoedd i blant galluog academaidd i sefyll, pe dymunent wneud hynny, arholiadau TGAU ar ddiwedd Blwyddyn 9. Mae gan Coleg Llanymddyfri rôl bendant i'w chwarae wrth gryfhau Cymreictod yr ardal. Dim ond trwy greu cymuned Coleg gadarn Gymreig y gallwn wneud hynny. Y bobl bwysicaf i arddel y Gymraeg o fewn y Coleg ac yn y gymuned yw'r bobl ifanc eu hunain. Wyn Morgan Pennaeth Adran y Gymraeg One of the main aims of the Welsh Department is to maintain a Welsh community within Llandovery College, promoting the Welsh ethos. Every effort is made to foster the understanding amongst pupils of Welsh Culture and Traditions, not only in the Welsh lessons but also through, amongst other things, Welsh Club, Urdd Activities – be they sporting or cultural, Theatre Visits, local and national eisteddfodau and the Welsh Chapel. Indeed, pupils of all ages are encouraged to take part in all aspects of Welsh within our College community We also wish to foster pride within every individual and raise confidence in the use of the Welsh Language in order for pupils to realise and value the knowledge of Welsh in their lives. The Welsh Department prepares pupils to sit GCSE/AS/A Level public examinations in both First and Second Language. Opportunities are also given for very academic pupils to sit GCSE at the end of Year 9. Llandovery College has a definitive role to play through strengthening Welshness within the surrounding Area. It is only by creating a strong Welsh community that we can do this. The most important people to claim and nurture Welsh within the college and in the community at large are the young people themselves. Wyn Morgan Head of Welsh
