Every day brings new opportunities and no two days are the same. Within a structured timetable, a host of exciting learning adventures await:
7.50 (optional) Breakfast Club at the Great Hall
8.30 arrive from the boarding house, school bus or with parents. Time to settle in, talk to friends, get registered and read.
9.00 assembly, where pupils learn about the world and spirituality, sing and recognise outstanding contributions.
9.30 lessons start. It’s usually Mathematics or English but it could be Spanish, French or PE depending on the day.
10.30 music lesson. Pupils learn a wide variety of instruments from peripatetic teachers. Others will enjoy supervised break in playgrounds or on the playing fields.
11.00 lessons - it could be geography, history, PHSCE, ICT, maths, science, DT, art, english, french, welsh ...
12.00 lunch. In the majestic Great Hall, Gollop children enjoy healthy, varied food in a relaxed family dining setting, joining their friends from the senior school (information on Llandovery College's approach to food and nutrition, together with weekly menus can be accessed here). Plenty of time for play.
12.30 chess. Some children choose to join this club and challenge friends to competitive but friendly games.
1.00 time to learn. Maybe they’ll be studying Sutton Hoo in history or Hinduism in RE. The curriculum is designed to be stimulating and wide ranging.
2.00 break time. With two yards you can either sit and chat or join in with a game of football.
2.15 last lesson of the day.
3.30 tea time. Every day something delicious is brought down from the kitchens to give pupils energy for the exciting co-curricular clubs that are about to start.
4.00 co-curricular clubs. These range from sport to debating club and there’s something for everybody.
5.00 day pupils are collected or are escorted to the school buses. Boarders return to their dedicated junior boarding house before dinner, and even more exciting activities.
5.00 - 6.00pm (optional) Tea Club at the Great Hall.
