As we all face the incredible challenges of the impact of the Coronavirus, we would like to update you on the work being carried out by College staff to maintain our students’ continuity of education, and the measures we are taking as a business during these very difficult times.
Our top priority during the latter part of the Lent Term was to ensure the safety of all members of the College community. Many parents have written to thank our staff for the manner in which they dealt with the demands placed upon them, and Dominic Findlay, the Llandovery College Warden, echoes those thanks.
Llandovery College’s main aim now, as we approach what looks like a delayed start to the Trinity Term, is to secure the education provision for all our pupils, whilst ensuring that those students in the exam years are given the best opportunity to gain the internal predicted grades that their efforts deserve.
In order achieve to this, from Thursday 16th April, the entire timetable for Years 7-13 is being taught via Zoom, thereby ensuring that pupils will not miss key educational time during the Trinity Term. Prep School staff are setting, marking and contacting students on a regular basis via a number of platforms to ensure that our younger pupils have work that can be completed at home during the lockdown.
The Warden thanks all Teaching and Learning Support staff for their preparations during the Easter break in readiness for teaching via these virtual methods. As a pupil-focussed business we feel that it is of utmost importance that we continue to offer an hour by hour, quality education to all our pupils, and we trust that this is evident to both parents and pupils.
Please be aware that the College will be completely closed from Thursday 9th until Tuesday 14th April, and any queries received over this period will be attended to on our return to business.
For all of us this Virus is the biggest challenge that we have had to face both personally and professionally. The Warden, Dominic Findlay, reassures you that we are all doing everything in our power to get through his challenging period of time, and sends you and your families his best wishes.
Stay safe and together we will get through this.
