The College 1st VII played their first sevens competition of the season at Christ College Brecon and exceeded expectations on the day with Pool wins over Hartpury College, Ellesmere College and Eastbourne College.

Further accomplished performances came against Colston’s School in the quarter finals and a difficult encounter in the semi-finals against Dean Close School saw the boys triumph, making it through to the final against old rivals Millfield.

Millfield, last year’s winners and historically masters of the abbreviated format displayed a little higher level of game organisation which proved to be the crucial difference in what was a hard fought final and a loss to the College (19-34).

Well done to the players for their commitment and hard work and a special mention to the four Year 11 pupils who performed admirably throughout the competition. This is definitely a positive start to the season.
