Term dates
Three terms: Michaelmas, Lent and Trinity. The school day for Years 7-13 runs from 8.35am registration through six lessons and chapel or tutor time, with co-curricular activities from 3.35pm to 4.35pm - and weekend activities and trips for boarders on top. Download the term dates (PDF) →

Exam results
We publish our results in full, year on year - and we ask you to read them remembering one thing no league table shows: every one of these grades was earned by a child we did not select. Distance travelled is our measure.

GCSE percentages are of all grades awarded. In 2026, 100% of GCSE grades awarded were at A*-G - every grade a pass - and 89% of all grades met or exceeded the pupil's own CAT prediction.
And the direction of travel matters: in 2026 our A-level top grades rose from 20% to 32.8% at A*-A and from 59% to 72.3% at A*-C, with a 97.8% pass rate - the strongest set in years. At GCSE, 83% of grades were at A*-C and 33% at A*-A, with every single grade a pass at A*-G. This year we also benchmarked every GCSE grade against the pupil's own Cognitive Ability Test prediction: 89% of all grades met or exceeded it, and 96% of pupils did so across the majority of their subjects. Alongside them, 70% of our EPQ candidates took an A (100% at A-C), BTEC Sport returned 55% at Distinction or Distinction* with every candidate passing, and every BTEC First Award in Business candidate achieved at least a Merit. Pupils supported through the College's Academic Action Plans improved by two grades on average. Improvement earned by a non-selective intake, not engineered by a selective one. “These are excellent results, particularly for a non-selective school. Uniform & transport
Daily minibus routes serve four corridors - Carmarthen & Whitland, Lampeter, Llanelli & Ammanford, and Brecon - with pickups from 7.15am. Termly zone rates: Zone A (0-15 miles) £716.50, Zone B (15-25 miles) £755.50, Zone C (25+ miles) £876.50, or pay-per-journey from £7.50. Transport to training sessions is also available.
Uniform lists for the Gollop Prep and Senior School, and details of our uniform suppliers, are available from the Admissions Office - along with a thriving pre-loved uniform exchange run by parents.
Food: the whole College dines together in the Great Hall on fresh, seasonal, locally sourced food prepared on site by our award-winning caterers - breakfast, lunch and supper for boarders, lunch for all.
Independently inspected
Everything this website claims about belonging, happiness and being known is tested by His Majesty's Inspectorate for Education and Training in Wales - and published for anyone to read.
The 2022 full inspection found the College met every Independent School Standard, with pupils' progress from a broad-ability intake - and the progress of ALN pupils in particular - singled out for praise. Estyn's most recent visit, reported in December 2025, closed with no follow-up activity required.

Governance & charity
Llandovery College - Coleg Llanymddyfri (Cymru) - is a registered charity (no. 1149946) whose objects centre on advancing education, including the Welsh language, heritage, culture and the arts, on the principles of the Church in Wales.
The school - Coleg Llanymddyfri (Cymru) - is governed by its Governing Body, chaired by Mr Simon Woodhead and supported by committees for Education & Safeguarding, Finance and Estates. The College's buildings and estate are owned by the parent company, Coleg Llanymddyfri, chaired by Mr Jonathan Gravell.
