The countdown has officially begun. In just three weeks, one of the most treasured traditions in Welsh school sport returns to Llandovery College as we prepare to welcome Christ College Brecon for Brecon Day 2026.
Taking place on Saturday, 17th October 2026, Brecon Day will once again bring together pupils, staff, parents, Old Llandoverians, Christ College pupils and families, and members of the Llandovery and Brecon communities for a wonderful celebration of sport, friendship, tradition and community.
The historic sporting rivalry between Llandovery College and Christ College Brecon dates back to 1879, with generations of pupils having proudly represented their schools in this much-loved Welsh Varsity.
This year, the tradition continues on the playing fields of Llandovery, with two eagerly anticipated 1st team fixtures:
- 1st XI Hockey · Llandovery College Playing Fields · push-back 12.30pm
- 1st XV Rugby · Llandovery College, Tredegar Close · kick-off 2.30pm
Brecon Day represents far more than the results on the field. It is an opportunity to celebrate the shared history between two of Wales’s historic schools and to bring together generations of pupils, families, staff and former pupils through a tradition that has endured for almost 150 years.
We warmly invite the Llandovery and Brecon communities, Old Llandoverians, families, friends of both schools and members of the wider public to join us for what promises to be a fantastic afternoon of sport and friendship.
With just three weeks to go, anticipation is building across the College as we prepare to write the next chapter in this historic rivalry.
