CCF cadets take their first steps in the field

Exercise First Bite, and the beginning of the Year 9 cadets' CCF journey.

It has been a busy and exciting start to the year for our Year 9 Combined Cadet Force (CCF) cadets, who recently took part in Exercise First Bite, their very first field exercise.

Designed as an introduction to life in the field, the exercise provided cadets with the opportunity to develop and practise a range of essential fieldcraft skills. Throughout the weekend, cadets received instruction in key military and outdoor disciplines, building confidence, resilience, teamwork, and self-reliance in a challenging yet rewarding environment.

For many of the cadets, Exercise First Bite marked their first experience of field training, and they embraced the opportunity with enthusiasm, determination, and a willingness to learn. The exercise provided an excellent foundation for future CCF activities and offered pupils a valuable insight into the skills and experiences that await them as they progress through the Contingent.

A huge well done to all our cadets for their effort, commitment, and positive attitude throughout the exercise. Their conduct and enthusiasm were a credit to both themselves and the College.

This is just the beginning of their CCF journey, and we look forward to seeing them continue to develop their skills and take on new challenges in the months ahead.
