The Gollop Prep School celebrated a very special milestone this week, marking 25 years since it first opened its doors on 6th October 2001.
Pupils celebrated with a special anniversary assembly exploring the history of the School and showcasing items from its past. The festivities continued in the afternoon with a wonderful rendition of Happy Birthday, a celebration cake made by Mrs Anderson, dancing and games.
The establishment of The Gollop Prep School was made possible through the vision and generosity of Old Llandoverian Ralph Ian Hamilton Gollop (O.Ll. 1947-52), a longstanding supporter and Trustee of the College. The Prep School and Llandovery College remained close to his heart until his death in 2015. His visits to the College, often accompanied by his two black Labradors, and the annual trips to St Dogmaels to visit Mr Gollop are fondly remembered.
Reflecting on the beginnings of The Gollop Prep School, former College Warden Peter Hogan (2000-08) commented:
“An idea developed within the Trustees that we should do more for younger children and we saw no quality provision in the area. Ian Gollop was an advocate and my mentor. He pushed for the school at every stage and committed to supporting its funding... I am so happy to see it doing so well. Floreat Landubriense.”
Peter Hogan · Warden, 2000-08
For 25 years, The Gollop Prep School has educated generations of Gollopians and Llandoverians, building on the vision that began in 2001.
We cannot wait to see what the next 25 years, and beyond, will bring.
Happy Silver Jubilee to The Gollop Prep School.
