Llandovery College was honoured to be represented at a special service at Llandingat Church, marking the centenary of Llandovery Hospital and 100 years of care and service to the local community.
The service brought together representatives from across Llandovery and beyond, in the presence of the Archbishop of St Davids, the Lord-Lieutenant of Dyfed and the Mayor of Llandovery, alongside other distinguished guests, to celebrate this important milestone in the history of the town.
During his sermon, the Rt Revd Dorrien Davies reflected on the importance of community, reminding those gathered that size is not a measure of success. Rather, it is the place we hold within our community, and our willingness to care for and support one another, that provides a far greater measure of its strength and success.
His words resonated deeply with us at Llandovery College.
As a College that has been part of the town since 1847, we are immensely proud of our place within the caring, compassionate and close-knit community of Llandovery. The relationship between the College, the town and the wider community is something we greatly value, and occasions such as this provide an important opportunity to reflect upon the institutions and individuals who have served generations of local families.
For 100 years, Llandovery Hospital has played an important role in the life of our community, providing care and support to those who need it. It was therefore a privilege for the College to join with others from across the community in recognising this remarkable anniversary.
