A group of Year 7 and 8 pupils and staff enjoyed a wonderful day celebrating the Mid-Autumn Chinese Festival at the Dylan Thomas Centre in Swansea.
The visit provided pupils with an opportunity to experience and learn more about Chinese culture and traditions through a varied programme of activities. Throughout the day, pupils enthusiastically joined in with storytelling, learnt Chinese words and participated in a range of creative workshops.
It was wonderful to see our pupils embracing every aspect of the experience with such curiosity and enthusiasm, making the most of an opportunity to learn beyond the classroom and experience another culture.
We were particularly delighted to receive some wonderful feedback from the organisers following the event, who praised the enthusiasm, curiosity, and behaviour of our pupils throughout the day:
“The children were wonderful all day. They joined in the storytelling with great enthusiasm, learned some Chinese words, and took part in all of the workshops. They made so many lovely things and got involved in every activity with real curiosity and energy.
Their behaviour was lovely, and they were a real credit to Llandovery College. We genuinely enjoyed having them, and we hope they had as much fun as we did hosting them.”
We are incredibly proud of our Year 7 and 8 pupils for being such wonderful ambassadors for Llandovery College. To receive such positive feedback about not only their engagement and enthusiasm, but also their behaviour, is a tremendous reflection on them and the values of our College community.
At Llandovery College, we believe that education extends far beyond the classroom. Experiences such as this provide pupils with opportunities to encounter different cultures, traditions and perspectives, while developing their confidence, curiosity and understanding of the wider world.
